AUBURN MEADOWS, CHAGRIN FALLS, OHIO

THE MEADOWLARK
August 2007 Edition
MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
Just a reminder that it is time to renew your membership in the Homeowner’s Association. If you have not yet done so, please send your dues in the amount of $40.00 (payable to Auburn Meadows Homeowner’s Association) to Dave Frazier at 10809 Meadow Lane. If you have not been a member in the past, please consider becoming a member now. Thanks to all new members who have joined and everyone who has renewed their membership.
BLOCK PARTY
We still need someone to host our annual block party this year. We also need some volunteers to work at the party. If you are interested in hosting or helping, please contact one of the Board Members.
CHANGE IN 2007 BOARD
John Barto has resigned from the board for personal reasons. John Hegedus will serve as president for the remainder of the year.
GREAT SAVINGS!
Are you 65 or older or a disabled homeowner? Beginning with the tax year 2007, the Homestead Exemption will be available to any senior or disabled citizen. This expanded program provides an exemption from real estate taxes on the first $25,000. For Meadows homeowners who meet this requirement, this amounts to $400-$450 per year in savings. In order to receive the Homestead Exemption on your January 2008 tax bill, you must fill out a form and turn it in to the County Auditor before October 1, 2007. A form can be obtained at the Geauga Country Auditor’s website http://www.auditor.co.geauga.oh.us/homestead/, or Office, 231 Main Street, Suite 1A, Chardon, Ohio. Telephone number is 440-279-1600. Forms can also be obtained at most local libraries.
CORRECTION
When introducing our new neighbor to the neighborhood in the last Meadowlark, his name was incorrectly listed as Steve Mesec. His name should have been listed as Jeff Mesec. Sorry about that Jeff; please accept my apology…your neighbor, Carol.

COMMUNITY WEBSITE
We now have a picture of our sign on the community website. The website is quite impressive! Take a look at it the next time you get on the internet. If you want to check it out, the website is www.associationcommunication.com/auburn.html. Let us have your comments.
ADOPT A PLANT
When the temperature gets into the high 80’s and 90’s and there is no rain, the plants and trees suffer. How about adopting a plant or tree at the entranceway or on a cul-de-sac? During our hot spells, put a jug of water in your vehicle and stop at the entranceway or a cul-de-sac on your way out of the Meadows. The plants and trees will be so grateful for your consideration and thoughtfulness!
MEADOWS BOOK CLUB
The Meadows Book Club is reading three books over the summer. The books include Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, Recipes for a Perfect Marriage by M. Prunty; and A Marriage Made in Heaven by Erma Bombeck. The first meeting will be October 4 at 7:30 pm. New members are always welcome. If you are interested in joining, please call Kim Littell at 440-543-6569.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Do you want to get to know your neighbors and build friendships? If you are interested in group activities such as card clubs, restaurant outings, progressive dinners, etc., please call Carol Ferguson at 440-543-8377 or Cathy Herold at 440-708-2553.
